Love is here now.
Fair Announcements
Beth: Workshop proposals due immediately for appearance in Peach Pit, later than that accepted but workshop won’t be listed.
Workshops will be scheduled for the restaurant space, in addition to yurt.
Jain: Spring Fling at WOW Hall, with fair poster unveiling, is Sat. May 10.
Arthur: Become a fair member, and vote for board members and Hymen fund allocations; only requirement is staff participation at one fair in past three years. Real ID required? No.
Jain: Sunday, June 1, Bingo at Friendly Gardens, 2-6 pm, with prizes donated by crafters, raising money for Care Fund.
Sam: Consensus rap: Decisions made together in ways everyone can live with; a block is not a no vote, it means it can’t be lived with because you feel so strongly against.
Another tool is to “stand aside”. Consider your frame of mind. When afraid or concerned about scarcity, then rigidness of thought. Instead, think of love and plenty, and realize plasticity of thought.
Dea: How many have been to the opening ceremony? Please plan to attend the opening ceremony hosted by Spirit Booth on village green on Friday morning after morning circle.
Tim: Remember village work parties? Held on weekend days between Memorial Day weekend and Fair. “What am I supposed to do?” Check the whiteboard on site. On May 31 Rick will be there to review booths, hopefully with booth coordinators on site.
Two work parties required. Help out where you can please. Build village, build community. Remember to help the village as a whole, not just your booth.
Agenda Review
Anything to add? No.
Sam: Let’s change “options” to “plan” in agenda item regarding Village Restaurant discussion.
No activist report. Please remove from agenda.
Grab an OCF Guidelines from Diane, or off the fair website.
New People Introduction
Keanda: will be with Spirit Booth; attended the second ever fair.
Lucien: interested in working in the Info Booth
Ezra: with KindTree with Doors of Expression
Aloe: with Little Village
Eric: assisting with signs and banners this year
Dylan: with Intentional Communities Booth and Decon
Camping Rap
If you’re returning to village and you’re camping, send an email with name, booth, and where you’re camping to: cvillagecamping@gmail.com
If you’re new to village and you’re camping, send an email with name, booth, and where you’re camping to: cvillagecamping@gmail.com
Wait for response. Returning villagers will receive confirmations first, then new villagers.
Site Report
Tim: Lovely, grass needs cutting; 8-9 red flags on booths, not major; Tree in Little Village is still an open concern.
Mosquitos? No mosquitos on site. They are taking the year off we think.
Facilitator Training Proposal
Kim: We need facilitators to mix up the usual cast of characters. Thinking of pulling together training, proposal in development. Proposing that training counts toward pre-fair work requirements.
Chaonne: For this year? No.
Discussion ensues and it’s decided the proposal will be presented in the fall for next year. Zoom meeting preferred.
Sam: Please join the facilitator list by emailing Sam or Kim (lizzycordich@gmail.com) if you are interested in facilitating so as to gain familiarity with concerns, scheduling, etc.
Jain: Zoom friendly facilitator training please.
Grants Committee
Tim: Has anyone given thought to grant offer? Raise hands? Just a couple. No real meetings or discussion to date.
OCF has $5K in the offing for 2025-2026 season if we can motivate. Great opportunity to show our activism.
Refresher: OCF Board grants each year for educational programming, no added passes, but could fund materials, speakers, etc.
Kelsey: Collab with Energy Park? Energy Park knows nothing but open to ideas around community sustainability.
Tim: One idea– 3 different categories of activism, one for each Fair day, with every activist group participating in a theatrical show about their issues bon the stage, creating education and artistic creations, with attendance maximized by the presence of Celebrity moderators. Village Restaurant Space Plan
Sam: Background: Village has long had a restaurant; when restaurants vacate, we have opportunity to participate in choice of new one.
This year different, due to timing, etc. Long story short, no restaurant this year. So we need to plan for use of space this year.
Rainbow and others are interested; who wants to decorate? Let’s get a group together. Will be used as programming space for workshops.
Let Sam know if you’re interested in beautification period. Seating required. 541-683-8250 samuelrutledge@gmail.com
Frog memorial space? Frog joke workshop, can youth host?
Old restaurant has flooring and will need to assist with getting it to village. Greg from Café Mundo will be onsite at 1pm June 22 (Village meeting day) to assist with the restaurant flooring, etc.
One suggestion: Volunteer to bring froggyness or chickenness into village.
Coffee in the Village
Yes please.
Can a bake sale by donation go with coffee?
