Set intention (5)
Breath…remember why we are here…
Honor the Kalapuya
Chaone read this: Land Acknowledgement
Our Land Acknowledgement is an: Act of remembering, Act of repair, Act of Accountability, Act of Acknowledgement and Atonement
Let us take a moment to reflect upon this place where we gather. Let us recall that this is the stolen ancestral land of the Chelamela and Chifin bands of the Kalapuya people whose descendants still live among us.
For time out of mind, indigenous people lived here along the Whilamut River, maintaining the diverse oak savanna ecosystem through careful land management based on their deep understanding and sense of kinship with the world around them. White American settlers and colonizers decimated entire villages with disease, forcibly laid claim to the land, and brutally removed the Kalapuya people along with over 30 other tribes to what are now the Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde and the Confederated Tribes of Siletz Indians.
The attempts to destroy Native culture continued through the banishment of languages, broken treaties, and the separation of children from their families sent to boarding schools where children were abused and traumatized.
Today there are several ongoing efforts in our region to revitalize languages, restore land and water rights, cultivate indigenous arts and sciences, and re-establish the sovereignty of Native Tribes.
Let those of us who occupy this land resolve together to dismantle the ongoing legacies of settler colonialism. May we do our part to steward this land, and may we continue to strengthen our relationships with our indigenous neighbors.

Site Report – David (2)
Additional decon happens over the summer and winter as flooding happens. Firewood: due too the incoming (not yet here) Emerald Ash Borer, no branch fire wood is allowed onsite, but milled lumber is OK. Do not stack lumber for firewood pieces under 16 inches. We should only 12 or so bamboo pots this year, the ones in the black pots. David has bamboo babies if you want any…

Grants Committee Update/discussion – Omo (10)
Pretty much no one besides Omo and Tim has stepped up to help develop a plan to submit a grant request to the Fair board, due in September for it happening in 2026. They are looking for something educational and artistic every year. Omo will schedule another meeting to help prior to the next Village meeting, announcing on the DRUM. In the meantime, a post was created on our website listing ideas we presented as well as the text of the OCF offer, and a place at the bottom to comment. Got thoughts, ideas? Write them there.

Coffee in Village – committee proposal (5)
No news about the restaurant. But there has been a discussion about coffee…if the restaurant does not provide coffee, do we want to be able to make it ourselves in the Village? Council hopes people interested in that will start a committee to determine how to do it safely and other details, Some folks signed up with Sharon. If you wanna join, send her an email: cvillagecamping@gmail.com
It was mentioned that Café Mum is pretty close and sells coffee…
Theme Poll Results – Tim (10)
Tim reported which theme ideas got 10 or more votes…about 70 people voted. We then went through all the new ideas people had added, and chose 4 by raising our hands to include in the Final Poll that you can find HERE. During the discussion it was mentioned that maybe the art work could be a picture of Frog. Our 2025 t-shirts could be tie-dyed or solid color…what do you think?
The theme with the most votes will be our 2025 theme… Or there may be a bit more discussion… Keep in mind Spirit Booth hopes your choices will dovetail with their booth’s mission and inspire their opening ceremony, and that this is not meant to be a “slogan”, but should reflect our Intention as a Community.
