Site Report – 5 – David

The site looks good. Ruts and deep potholes on 13th from heavy rain movement. It was learned that inoculating trees again the Emeral Ash Borer (EAB) would cost $300 per tree. Please protect the purple flagged trees on site. The village has lots of ash trees. There are lots of ways to get involved with this issue.

Fair Announcements – 10
     Eligibility form – Tim/Adrian

Eligibility forms are all online ready to fill out: https://communityvillageocf.org/forms/ Teen crew requests are not due by March 15, but sometime in May. More on that another time…
     Village Entrance update

        – This issue was brought by the Fair committee as they looked at old business. As the Fair has recognized that our fire escape routes are adequate and the 13th St booths have moved back to make the path wider, the need for a new entrance in their view was not necessary. As we have not come to a new consensus on this and have divided opinions on whether we want it, it will remain on the back burner going forward.
     Facilitator Training update – Sam/Kim

A training for those wishing to become a meeting facilitator will be coming up soon. If you’d like to participate, contact Sam samuelrutledge@gmail.com or Kim lizzycordich@gmail.com.

     One Fun Thing

HA HA HA, loud and strong…

    Workshops

Download, print, fill out…  Attach and email to Beth at communityvillageworkshops@gmail.com, or bring to an in-person CV meeting. Must be in Beth’s possession by May 11, 2026. If you have trouble getting to the form, contact Beth. Find info on the Forms page (link above).
     Camping

Send an email to Sharon at cvillagecamping@gmail.com  if you are getting your pass through the village. Ask for help if needed.  Include in the email: What booth/area do you work? Your Name, Phone #, Email. Are you new to the village in 2026? Are you returning to the same camp you did in 2025? If not, where are you camping OR where are you requesting to camp? Who else is camping with you? Indicate if this is a child.  For more details scroll down on the forms page (link above). The ZEN camping area has been full, but when people leave, a space can open up. Let Sharon know which area you are hoping for.

     Registration – John

Do not write your checks to Community Village any more. Checks will go to Oregon Country Fair instead. Your check will have to match the actual cost of your Worker or SO pass cost, not the shared cost amount that some booths use. If you use the Sunshine Database, this is also true. It’s possible your booth coordinator will be able to collect your cash or checks and do this for you…we are not sure yet. John and Sara are working on this. The database is still doing upgrades.
    Restaurant update – 10 – Sara

Our new restaurant is B Heavenly. https://bheavenly.findmenuworld.com/ They will have vegan only meals for us, early morning coffee and breakfast, late closing, special village pricing, too. Hopefully the owner, who was a Holy Cow employee for many years, will attend our May meeting as they are excited to be part of our community. Sara and Karla attended a tasting with 3 candidates and agreed this was the best choice. After their first year we can offer comments and improvement ideas, but they must use the Fair approved menu for the first year.
    Hot Water? – Kim

Last year we had a camp stove to heat water and villagers brough their own coffee or tea and made their drinks…it was a nice community gathering experience. We do not yet know the cost of coffee at B Heavenly, and we will likely do our own hot water option again this year in the Community House either way. Volunteers will be needed.

Another Fun Thing – 5 – Sam

       Sing along with Sam. Fun…

Activist presentation: Insta Ballet – 5

In this organization, the audience is the choreographer…we make a brand new dance together. It’s all about community and collaboration, dancing with joy in movement. They also work with people with autism and disabilities. Find out more at https://instaballet.org/ The presentation was fun.

50th Committees reports – 30
     Activities – Tim

The 12 people on this committee have yet to meet. If you would like to join them in planning Fair time or after hours activities, please contact tim at tgm@peak.org. Discussion included Arthur showing a t-shirt from 1983 he hopes will be our 50th T-shirt. He also mentioned names of long time Fair villagers who would be good for a panel discussion. (Arthur, please send Tin those names) Ben and his H&H booth mates (and you?) will be working to create a song we can all sing together, using a pop song melody with new lyrics. Others said we should do at least one thing ALL TOGETHER.  Spirit booth coordinator Steve urges us to somehow respond to the mess of a situation the world is now experiencing. Another suggested we include “Listen to our Heart” in the opening ceremony. Some folks thought the afterhours party should be without alcohol, others suggested we bring our own and not overshare. The talent show after hours sounds good, though it’s important we still keep the Saturday campfire – maybe do the party on Friday. Another mentioned that new people should be invited, welcomed, embraced, rather than them not knowing what to do. It’s up to all of us! A time capsule idea was mentioned. The Activity Committee will meet next week via Zoom and make solid plans based on all the Village input. Look to the DRUM for a meeting time notice, prolly next Monday evening. Same zoom link as our village meetings were: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/85708566531
     Values – Sam

This smaller committee is Sam, Kim, Turtle and Taylor. Sam read our Mission Statement, visible on our web home page and copied below. Perhaps each booth/activist group could display something in the booth that demonstrates how what they do reflects these values. Another suggested we should create a shorter mission statement of standard size, but still keep these goals. What we do and how we do it matters these days. Let’s tell everybody!
