A few booths not done, Little Village tree not yet decided to cut down or not, though they previously said down by next Fair, assessment ongoing, council should be informed. Sara and Nathan going out next week. Intentional Community ladder needs work to prevent loft access…will get done. Peace & Justice tree is ok with deck built around it. David wants Little Village tree to stay, should die in place. Ash tree is leaning on booth which is leaning on another booth: Green Earth.
2024 OCF Feedback (discussion)
Jain… Wants a feedback meeting in summer. Had a great time.
Village feedback form wanted. Mello music but not big draw act. Database was horrendous, hope it gets fixed. The guy in charge of it had an attitude. Loved the fire, om chain did not last. 4A power to charge cell phones, etc, was well used, went well. DEI finally worked with all 5 passes for underserve demographics
Meeting Childcare (discussion)
The number of kids has dwindled. Wasn’t needed this year. Do we need this in any way? Needs do evolve. How can we find out the need? Have Booth Coordinators do a survey. We need to support parents. Add elder’s care? Zoom meetings help parents, so they don’t need childcare. Have RSVP for kids. Teens can be used to do the work. Involving kids helps grow the village. Required: need 2 people, 1 over 18. Need those passes for others. Do kids want it in this day and age? Child space cost extra at the meeting venue. How many in person meetings this year? Who will create the survey: Kelsey, Taylor, Kaitlyn.
1 Fun Thing
A round the table story…funny!
Shadowing Council discussion
Historically shadowing means helping out and learning and seeing if they like it. Lately more like a baby council member. Babies need mentoring. Anyone can come to council meetings, but not be listed or given shirts or do shifts. First council year folks needs a buddy/mentor. Shadowing is not staff. Council decides what shadows can do and benefits they get. Shadowing is a verb not a noun. Accountability to Fair is important. Too few council led to shadows doing more. So we need more council. Do villagers know what council does? (see the website “people and jobs”) Recruitment and monitoring is crucial. Finding a way for all to help is a goal of the Fair always. Is council supposed to make decisions for the village? Tell the village what’s happening! Shadowing is the tradition, not shadow. Village did not consensus on a shadow phrase. It’s for people who are considering but unsure. OCF community resource something… can help. https://oregoncountryfair.net/oregon-country-fair-community-support-process/

Capital Projects (announcement/action request)
Booth Coordinators: contact Rick if you know of work that needs to be done in your booth. Try to follow county rules. Storage is what lofts are for, legally. That’s why we’re building half booths. Stage needs some work. 10×10 booths only thing wanted these days. Rebuilds are Capitol projects (anything over $2000 form OCF budget), repair is up to our Village budget. No rebuilds this year so far. Not all booths know they need repair… Rick will do an inspection needed by end of December to help create a budget. Booths almost all have a construction liaison, awesome.
