1000 thank you’s to Sara Stockwell for taking minutes at last night’s Village Meeting even though it was her first ever! Here they are, edited by me ((Sam) for context.
Meeting opened with intentions, introductions, and a site report before we noticed nobody was taking notes. From memory: a tree came down on Springfield Creamery booth.

Jan, Feb – on Zoom. (Only 2 Zoom meetings this year). (See agenda page for Zoom link)
March, April, May – all in-person
June 14 – Only 1 meeting this year, on site at noon. (Decided at Council meeting)
Importance of in-person expressed

Fun! Break
Council – stand! Huzzah – 12 people on council this year, everyone who stood was confirmed.
List of things need to get done – David says this is the perfect # of council members
Jane says – Yay, I feel like there are enough people I can delegate!
Capital Projects:
Work is underway on a capital project funding request for shade solutions that don’t involve a central pole for shade. Brainstorm: Mention of rope suspended very high to hang. Jane: Some talk about fire… Fred some talk of traffic & afternoon sun being the most important to shade against. Lily: Potentially less Trees in future. Sam: facing stage is facing south-ish. Facing away from the stage is where the most tree loss may be, so not as big a shade loss. Omo: says this tree loss is about 10-15 years future and not certain to happen.
Parachute is flammable, are these fire-resistant? Omo knows a lot about these other fabrics. Taylor: Triangles & rectangles are modular, so we can expand as the area changes. Sue: they should be beautiful! Omo’s son has some ideas?
***Needs to be submitted to OCF by January 31st
50th Anniversary of Community Village!!!
Sam’s idea to share: every year we’ve come up with a theme through consensus, which takes a lot of time. This year, can we decide early that our theme will be “50 years of Community Village?” Can be “Golden Anniversary” or “Village 50th.” Depends on context how exactly this will appear – the theme is anything conceptually tied to the 50 year anniversary. Consensus reached.
We will use meeting time to plan special events for the 50th, maybe a redux of the Café hour we held for the fair’s 50th a few years back? Sara likes this idea. There will be an opportunity to join the “Fiddy Committee!”
Having decided that our 2026 theme will be the anniversary, we will use meeting time to come up with a concise statement of Community Village values through consensus. Renewing our vows! There will also be an opportunity to serve on a small group to do some leg-work for this project. Consensus reached.
-Spirit Booth should be involved and certainly has feelings and ideas
We also have a Village Restaurant selection process this year. Food Committee is taking a bigger role than they have in the past but we can advocate for input!
