Deep breaths, let in the magic…

Agenda review – 5

Add a talk from the New Restaurant: B Heavenly

Site Report – 5 – David

Emerald Ash Borer is still coming, alternate plants have been tagged with a purple tag – keep these plants safe. A Vegematic team also noticed isako (?) plants dying, don’t know why. Daivd also mentioned that an older time capsule is buried between the Community House center post and the water spigot. Council will discuss reaching out to Archeology about digging it up.

Fair announcements – 15
Eligibility forms due – Tim

Eligibility forms MUST BE SUBMITTED by Monday April 13. If a form is not submitted you may be ineligible for a pass. Booth Coords will get the final version of pass requests on Tuesday, and will have their last opportunity to add their comments in the appropriate field. These comments are the booth coord’s opinion whether or not the applicant is eligible. Thes comments and the rest of the forms will be evaluated by all those who attend the April 19 Eligibility Meeting, 2-3:30pm at 4435 High ST, Eugene, Omo’s house. All are welcome.

A question was asked about the DEI passes. DEI passes are designed to bring underrepresented groups and individual into our community. Their use by the same person is limited to 2 years. Booth coords can edit the eligibility forms to indicate who in their booth would qualify for a DEI pass. Please do that before April 13.

– booth coord meeting summary – Kim

These 2 meetings were attended by almost all booths in one or the other meeting. Eligibility requirements like meeting and work party attendance and progressive activities, etc, were discussed. Attention was also given to the booth webpages that may need updating with current group and individual activist statements which are designed to give information that can be shared all year. Please check your booth…

   – Workshops – Beth

Workshop requests are coming in, get yours in as soon as you can. Space has been reserved for the Council 50th play. Any 50th related discussion that would take up workshop spaces should be submitted soon,

– Camping – Sharon

No representative attended, all that was mentioned is the deadline of May 31, with the encouragement to send your request in sooner. The meadow is designed to host disabled and parents with small kids. They should get preference in that space no matter who was there last year. The camp team has not replied to folk’s emails, causing concerns. The team won’t know where to put you if you are new or wanna different spot until all those coming back to the same spot are assigned a space. Council will encourage the camp team to respond with acknowledgement that all emails were received.

– Work projects – Rick

The stage and restaurant need attention, but there are no capital projects beyond that. I had a hard time hearing Rick, so if you have more to add…)

– Spring Fling is at the WOW Hall, 6-10pm, with the Sugar Beets. Fair Party!!

Registration – John

Teen crew passes need to be ordered through the Sunshine database, contact jflan@efn.org 541-345-6822 if you need help. This year your checks must be made out to Oregon Country Fair, not the village. It is suggested that those booths who equalize the past cost between worker and SO give their money to the Booth Coordinator who can then write the check to Fair.

B Heavenly

B Heavenly operates a food cart in Kesey Square, has been in business for 10 years, so happy to be in the village now! Will have breakfast early, coffee, and maybe a late dessert? bheavenlycafe@gmail.com

One fun thing – 5

Do the HOKEY POKEY!!!

Activist presentation – 5 Health Care for All Oregon

Colin presented this section, an employee of this nonprofit. Patrick, Marshall and Melia (?) were with us also. For 25 years their organization has worked to make Universal Healthcare the standard. Oregon is now the first state to amend our constitution to make health care a right. The Universal Health Plan Governing Board will be delivering their plan this September. You can get involved by talking to your billionaire friends (lol), volunteer, submit comments in writing. Colin is on a sub-committee that you can listen to 5-6pm on the 4th Wednesday via Zoom to share your opinion. And they do want to be part of the village this year! Scroll down to the bottom of these minutes to see much more about how to get involved. https://www.hcao.org/

Activities – Tim

  • Green earth will be hosting a Friday night Mocktail Party More info to come.
  • A poll has been posted online asking how to proceed with an activist poster – each booth do their own or the Village do one together. Access the Poll HERE on the Village home page.
  • The Council will be doing the play, “The Future Looks Back.” Actors will talk about what the Village’s activist activities have accomplished by our 75th anniversary. Hopeful and silly. 3:00 Saturday on the Village green.  If you would like to participate, contact tgm@peak.org
  • We talked about the wall by the restaurant tables area where there used to be the “History Wall” organized by Lynn Apsell, who has not been participating the last few years. Someone will reach out to her and perhaps get access to the stuff she used to display.
  • Names of folks to be invited to be in an Elder Panel to do a workshop or 3 to talk about the village history have been gathered. This is a work in progress. Contact Kim at lizzycordich@gmail.com to help.
