7:00 HELLO’S (15)
KRene is Karen’s new name… Just got boosted. Lotsa local political activity. Margaret got Covid, still recovering, planting bulbs. Kavana (Tree) is fine now, busy. Lot of Covid since Fair (Diane) only anecdotal stories. Covid is still contentious issue. OCF suspended Covid rules now. Go ahead and send voting advice to Kavana. Should have videos on Fair Family News online. On YouTube.
SET INTENTION – 5
Make jokes…
AGENDA REVIEW – 2
Budget Report added
FAIR ANNOUNCEMENTS – 10
- Saturday 15th is OCF annual meeting at LCC longhouse or via Zoom with candidates, voting due the 22nd. Info on the .net site. John Alexander from village is a candidate. Tom Horn is also recommended, consults with 4J.
From KRene Kos (she/her) to Everyone 07:19 PM
Candidate statements: https://oregoncountryfair.net/wp-content/uploads/bsk-pdf-manager/2022/09/0922ffnSept2022.pdf
- Ash trees on the site. An Ash Borer is attacking our state. All our ash trees are vulnerable with main attack within 6 years, may plant new trees in prep. Don’t bring in firewood to site. No way to stop them so far.
Sequoias are also fading. Dawn Redwood may like our new climate…avocadoes, warmer loving trees, but need permission to plant non-indigenous trees.
- More facilitators needed for our meetings, can do trainings, work in pairs. Some may have been mentioned before, check minutes.
BUDGET REPORT –
Karla: All our reimbursements are paid. Waiting for final accounting from Norma. So, our Village budget is OK even with fewer people paying for passes? Yes, our budget does not depend on pass sales. All Rick’s expenses were covered through Capitol budget and other amounts came from Village budget.
Hillary, Fair-wide is doing a budget review re: lower attendance.
Last nights budget meeting, trying to avoid going up to 15,000 guests a day. A $1,000,000 grant kept us afloat in 2022. Crews will look at who gets passes after some absences and replacements in 2022. Minutes will be posted. We asked for more in 2022 and will do that amount again. Capital project’s we need to get ready by January…need to work on that.
STAND FOR COUNCIL – 15
Tim, Nathan, Karla, Diane, Omo, David (not here), Sarah. Banjo Mike shadow, Kelsey shadow.
Diane hoping to train: flowers, yurt décor, teen crew liaison, OCF committees, Thursdays are busy doing prep…could get a subcommittee to help then?
Propose to move the intros to a more populated meeting. Nope.
Omo: Committed to the Village for a long time, care provider in 4A, new games for LP, Art Coord and Spirit, construction and Council and Pyramid. Want to find ways to bring us back to community as opposed to the party…more networking, better morning meeting turnout – mandatory for 2 of them.
Tim: Started in 2000 as Nel’s SO, designed and coordinated building of info and house the next year, was Doors Coord, then Council. Focusses on website, Newsletter, minutes keeping and other digital stuff. Can be grouchy…
Karla: since 1989, Council since 1991. Does interfacing with money and wristbands and inventory, has good relationship with the OCF people doing that. Makes it easier to get things done. Agrees about growing community, we have lost a sense of ourselves as community. Too many don’t know each other. We used to do skits and fun things, wants that back. Liked the Friday night thing for villagers. Let’s build more community.
Diane: Been around maybe too long. Things aren’t what they were. Morning circle is at a busy time, I am older now and slower. Maybe start singing at the end of our meetings again. It can bind us together. Does a memorial walk on Sunday morning.
Sara: Was her first year on Council. Booth coord for Doors before that, began Village in 2008 with KindTree. Loved the Village, wants to bring us a new meeting space again for 2023. Wants to foster change, reinstitute activist report.
Kelsey – Shadow: A lot of Village knowledge is in people’s minds and should be spread around so other villagers can step in. Got a lot from Jain for Little Village and Council members last year.
Banjo – Shadow: would like to help where needed. Has helped with little errands in construction and more as needed. Get a feeling of what is working. Is on Stage Crew now.
Tim Proposal: Open solicitation for more Shadows and Council in January.
Why not November? Send announcements for November.
We set up this in October to give more time for concern settlement. We could do shadows anytime.
Next month confirm people who stand today. Opening for Shadows is fine, not Council
Open up in January for shadows and Council
Would need to change process. Can’t do that now. We should recruit people for shadows only.
Consent to allow Shadows to be recruited and joined in January of 2023. CONSENTED.
Get the word out!!
ONE FUN THING – 10
Banjo plays a song.
HOW TO PREPARE FOR 2023 – 30
- Hybrid update. Diane: the OCF can do them only downtown office or at Alices, limited to 20 people.
Banjo Mike can help with tech for us. Sara looking into places to meet in person, will report. Not ready for all in-person. Unitarian is doing hybrid worship? Should we officially consent to do Hybrid? Will do a tryout first before consent is sought. Sara is working on it.
- Construction: IC needs rebuild – too much noise panels. House has mushrooms. Spirit, Doors back deck. So far…. Reach out to Rick prior to council meeting.
David site report next month.
Friday night party n stage. No drunks. Kelsey.
Cocktail on Saturday, covid impacted last summer, do a new reality to be together.
Pizza, ice cream party, says the youngin’.
Song circle and campfire was sweet Saturday night.
