Site Report – 2

Sue Barnhart reported that it is very beautiful onsite right now, lotsa flowers blooming, a little muddy on the paths, a tree is down near a 6-pack. The site is open 9-4 daily. The main camp kitchen is being rebuilt.

Fair announcements – 15

– Registration – John

New: booth coords can now write checks for their whole booth, which makes it possible to combine the worker and SO pass prices. It doesn’t need to be all the booth members, but those who are included need to be listed with legal names and pass types to match the pass inventory. John can take checks or cash to the Fair, This info was shared on the Booth Coord eList.
John 541-345-6822 jflan@efn.org

– Workshops – Beth

We have a pretty full workshop schedule but there is still room. Today (Thursday) is the deadline to be included in the Peach Pit. Forms are available tonight to complete. You can still apply for a workshop after today and will appear in the Village schedule by the water fountain, but it will not be listed in the Peach Pit. Workshops and activities can take place in the Yurt, Dome, or on the Village Green. bethmottweiler@gmail.com

– Camping – Carrie

Carrie is the new Camping Coordinator: Carrie Gibbs 971-219-9746, cvillagecamping@gmail.com Deadline to sign up for a camping spot is May 31st. Last year’s list is with her today and you can check in with your legal name. Include children, SOs, etc, booth name, and if you are new to the village. Returning campers: if you are asking for the same spot as last year, you will get a confirmation message. New people will not be informed right away, but will be responded to, for sure. If you are not camping in the village, please tell Carrie where you will be. Keeping track of villagers is important.

– Work Parties – Rick

4 large posts need replacing this year, 3 on the stage. These are big jobs…if you can help with these, contact Rick, by phone text is preferred. 541-543-0624 Rickkb@LIVE.COM To help communicate with booths, each booth is asked to have an appointed construction coordinator. Please text Rick with your name and booth. On site work party schedules were not yet discussed. Stay tuned…

– Others: Fair Membership –

Arthur asked is we were Country Fair members?  As a member you can participate in Fair Board member voting, a very important way to keep the Fair focused on a positive way forward and to help determine what nonprofits are funded by the Jill Heiman Vision Fund. Click here to become a member: Membership Form

One fun thing – 5

Stand up and sing “Are You Listening?”

Activist presentation – 5 – Masculine Alchemy

Caleb and Randall here speaking for Riverstone. This organization does Wolfpack Facilitation: meets weekly as a men’s council: a chance to speak freely about whatever, acceptance, a grounding process, male experience, own who we are, all done with confidentiality. It’s a sacred experience with reverence. Have fun and be a better man. They have scheduled workshops in the Yurt this year with Riverstone. They are excited to be part of the Village, a dream come true. They will be a part of the Health & Healing booth and yes, they do include trans men.

50th committees – 30
   Activities – Tim

  • Tim has posted a first draft copy of the play “The Future Looks Back”. It’s written to be entertaining and informative and includes input from each activist booth highlighting goals they now have that they hope will be reality in 25 years. Here is a link to the play: https://communityvillageocf.org/2026/05/17/the-future-looks-back/ On the bottom of the post there is a place to make comments, add input, volunteer to perform. But if you wanna be surprised by the ending…don’t look. 😊 Or you can just email Tim at tgm@peak.org
  • Friday night after hours mocktail. Green Earth will be providing some cups so you don’t need to bring your own. Contact Cat McCormac 541 513 6499, wewithstand@yahoo.com for more information.
  • Big Poster is being organized also by Green Earth, and all activists are asked to visit the poll published to get input for the poster: webpage Do so by May 31st. Where it might be displayed has not been decided because Daine has connected with Lynn and will be retrieving her many photos, etc. from the History Wall to be put up by the restaurant seating area.
  • Fair Elders workshops. Beth has reserved 4pm in the Yurt, I think, each day for elders to share their history in the Village. So far Diane has only secured 2 participants and is working to find more. It may be that those of us who have been Villagers for only 25-40 years could also be involved. Are you interested? Diane Albino: iriedi@yahoo.com
  • Talent Show with Villagers during the mocktail event is being worked on. Stage crew needs to first confirm they will have battery power to amplify the sound and have some lighting. We will need some tables and chairs for the audience. And Omo, 541-844-8719, omo@efn.org, will help organize the performers. Cross your fingers this can happen.

  Values – Sam

What are our values? The committee met and brainstormed ideas to add to our present mission statement. Here is their posting:

LOVE FOR OUR INTER-CONNECTED SPIRITS

Empathy, Compassion, thinking of others, community care, healing, raising whole children, mutual aid, reciprocity, trust, nurturing, honesty. Education, information access. Life long learning, information.

Creativity, Believing in dreams, fun. staying playful, lightness

LOVE FOR ALL HUMANS

Social Activism, Justice, structural justice, resistance, peace, social awareness, networking for progressive social change, Equality, Social service, equity, political activism, diversity

This is our present Mission Statement:

Love Goes Here

Community Village is a part of the Oregon Country Fair Family and is dedicated to education, information access, and networking for progressive social change. We create a spiritual center manifesting the Village Vision of love, peace, trust, justice, cooperation, equality, and social service. By believing in dreams, thinking of others, valuing differences, and experimenting with new ideas, we hope to expand our consciousness, growing beyond the Fair into the world at large.

Discussion:

This is a great representation of our values, but as presented it does not seem as inspirational as it should. Someone reading this should feel it in their heart and be inspired to join our Village. It needs to be re-formatted. Perhaps a smaller list would result in more attention.
Sam mentions that perhaps only the headings would be posted, and the underlying elements could evolve with time. Taylor envisioned this as a tree image, with the trunk being the title, the large branches be the heading or the booths, and the smaller branches and leaves be the details. Another envisioned the leaves falling to the ground and feeding the soil as an allegory to our goals becoming mainstream.

Another mentioned that “values” is a word that triggers in this modern world, maybe “intention” is what we should use. Another said our present Mission Statement is already awesome. How do we come together? What do we believe in? A number of people said they like the tree idea. One suggested we make a video, approaching the tree from different angles. Another mentioned values are not strategies. Another said to add a bit of a story line: in 50 years we have done this… Another said values are our beliefs, like environments issues.
There will be additional conversation in future meetings, but Spirit Booth is authorized now to use these new headings this year as they prepare the opening circle ceremony.
